Umarex TP50 Gen 2 T4E .50 Cal
The Umarex TP50 Gen 2 T4E is a purpose-built .50 caliber CO2 gas gun designed for personal protection, home defense, target shooting, and tactical training. Delivering up to 13 Joules of energy with muzzle velocities reaching 150 m/s, this second-generation Umarex TP50 Gen 2 platform provides significant kinetic impact and stopping power. Featuring a Double Action Only (DAO) trigger mechanism, the Umarex TP50 Gen 2 ensures rapid and repeatable cycling without requiring manual cocking between shots.
Instant Quick-Pierce CO2 System & Seal Protection
Standard CO2 gas guns typically require the gas cartridge to be pierced upon initial loading, which can cause internal seal degradation if stored pressurized over extended periods. The Umarex TP50 Gen 2 solves this with an emergency-ready quick-pierce mechanism in the grip. A standard 12g CO2 capsule is loaded into the handle by unscrewing the bottom nozzle and can sit unpunctured in standby mode indefinitely. When required, pushing or tapping the bottom nozzle upward punctures the capsule seal instantly, rendering the pistol fully pressurized in a fraction of a second.
When target practice or defensive use is complete, press the protruding pressure-release button located where the hammer rests on the Umarex TP50 Gen 2. This vents all remaining gas from the valve chamber before storage, preserving internal O-rings and ensuring a substantially longer operational lifespan.
Internal Magazine & Multi-Projectile Capability
The Umarex TP50 Gen 2 features an integrated 6-shot internal tube magazine positioned directly beneath the barrel assembly. Loading is fast and simple: pull back the spring lever located on the right side of the frame to expose the loading channel, insert up to six .50 caliber rounds, and release the spring lever to engage tensioned ammo feeding. The .50 caliber bore accommodates multiple munition types depending on the application, including heavy solid nylon kinetic rounds, ceramic-core projectiles, pepper defense rounds, and paintball or rubber practice balls.
Tactical Frame Controls, Sights & Expansion
Weighing 682 grams with an overall length of 213 mm and an 111 mm barrel, the frame balances firm handling with manageable recoil control. Safety is paramount: the trigger features an integrated blade safety mechanism similar to Glock-style safety triggers, preventing accidental activation unless the trigger face is intentionally depressed. High-visibility green front and rear sights allow rapid sight alignment in various lighting conditions. For expanded tactical setups, an integrated lower Picatinny rail allows easy mounting of weapon lights, laser modules, or secondary rail accessories.
Practical Operating & Maintenance Considerations
To maintain smooth operation and troubleshoot common field issues, consider the following maintenance steps:
Failure to discharge: Confirm that the bottom CO2 nozzle has been fully pushed upward to pierce the capsule, or check if the 12g gas capsule is empty.
Feeding issues: Check that projectiles are clean, undamaged, properly sized .50 caliber rounds, and loaded correctly with the right-side spring lever fully released to apply tension.
Velocity drop during rapid fire: Firing rapidly causes extreme thermal cooling within the CO2 valve system. Allow the pistol to rest briefly at ambient temperature to recover full gas pressure and maximum energy output.
