Ekol Aras

The Ekol Aras is a replica of the Browning Hi-power pistol, also known as the FN HP-35. The original Browning Hi-Power is one of the most iconic and widely used military pistols in history, renowned for its design and reliability. Designed in response to a French military requirement for a high-capacity service pistol, the design was started by American firearms inventor John Moses Browning and completed by Belgian engineer Dieudonné Saive at Fabrique Nationale (FN) in the 1930s. The “Hi-Power” name alludes to its revolutionary 13-round, double-stack magazine capacity, which was nearly double that of other pistols like the Colt M1911 at the time.

Adopted by the Belgian Army in 1935 (as the P-35 or GP-35), it became the standard service pistol for over 50 armies in 93 countries. It saw service on both sides during World War II: the Germans produced it in occupied Belgium, while an Inglis factory in Canada produced it for Allied forces. The Hi-Power’s linkless short-recoil operation and double-column magazine design influenced generations of subsequent combat pistols.
